What is the most beneficial training you could introduce for your team?
You don't need to guess.
This simple process will tell you what to train your team on first.
Action: Keep an intervention log for 2 weeks
What is an intervention log? It's a simple record of all of the questions you get asked and the times that you intervene with the team.
All you need is a pen and paper or a phone with notes and you're on your way.
Method:
For 2 weeks, capture an entry each time:
* A team member asks you a question about how to do something (or they need to bring something to your attention for it to proceed)
AND
* You see something that makes you want to intervene with the team - so basically a situation where something was going to happen that you didn't think was ideal.
That's it.
Once you've captured all of this, you will have real data on:
- what needs attention first
- who needs training on what
Now you can address the need directly instead of guessing.
You will be able to address the need by offering training, creating a process or empowering a team member to make decisions in their domains of expertise.
Let me know how it goes and how it works for you 😀
